disabled vet, in need of a quick fix on my wheelchair. berts took care of it on the spot, and i was on my way, for a fraction of the price of a medical equipment store.
Greeted by the most awkward guy ever half the time I didn't even know if he was talking to me or not half the time... he then gave me bullshit estimates so I left with plans on never coming back
Better off going to a small mom and pop bike shop. There are plenty in WNY
Stood in the store for 20 minutes waiting for service. I had to stare aggressively at a salesman to even get acknowledged. He told me they were short handed and apologized for the wait, but when he was through with his customer we still were passed over for a different couple that came in after us.
I took my used Japanese model to this place and specifically gave instructions to replace both inner tubes and tires, as the bike had been sitting for quite some time. The staff needs some sort of customer service course. I did not receive so much as a greeting until I walked up to the checkout desk and even then, it wasn't that friendly. I spent several hundred dollars on tires (supposedly new inner tubes), a lighting system and one other tool. Sometime in August I was leaving my friend's house and suffered a rear flat. Upon opening up the tire and tube I discovered, to my dismay that, even though I had specifically instructed that both inner tubes be replaced, that the technician had put the old tube back in. A few days ago, I had another flat, this time on the front wheel. I have not yet opened up the assembly, but I will bet that it also has the old inner tube inside. Bert's Bikes on Niagara Falls Boulevard will never have my business again. I have selected another bicycle shop on Hertel Avenue to be my new service center. I would recommend you take your bicycling business someplace else.
Never really bought bikes from there, as I build my own, but I've gone there with a couple of buddies here and there to check out the inventory and was immediately greeted, and asked if I needed help finding something. As I said, we would mostly browse, but when it came time for me to get a specific part or have them do a service I could not do myself, they were more than helpful. I needed barrel adjusters for my bike, and they had the size I needed in stock, put them in right there in the store, and only charged me about $6 for parts and "labor" where if I bought them online, the adjusters themselves are around $12 plus shipping. Very friendly, very helpful, gives me hope in a town with most of it's bike shops being run by assholes who charge an arm and leg to do a simple task. Thank you Berts!
